From the factor floor to collecting Oliver tractors, Wayne Wiltse’s journey in one of hard word, curiosity and a deep love for the machines and the people who build them
Wayne Wiltse grew up near the Oliver factory in Charles City, Iowa. His early experiences sparked a lifetime passion for engineering and innovation.
Wayne worked in the experimental department at White Farm Equipment, where he was involved in testing, problem solving and the development of farm machinery.
In 1989, Wayne was one of the founders of the Hart-Parr Oliver Collectors Association (HPOCA). Over the years, he played a key role in the organization, serving as both president and historian and helping preserve the history of Hart-Parr and Oliver.
Through his stories, Wayne shares firsthand experiences from the people, machines and history that were part of his life in Charles City, preserving those accounts for future generations.

Wayne’s Stories
Moving just a few blocks across town put me in a neighborhood filled with people connected to Hart-Parr and Oliver. At four years old, I didn’t know it yet, but many of these neighbors would become a big part of my life.
Both of my grandfathers had connections to Hart-Parr long before I came along. Although I never had the chance to know either of them, their work at the plant became part of my family’s connection to Hart-Parr history.
